Additional Employee Types

SchedulePro has released four more Employee Types for a total of seven unique types to categorize employees with. The default values are as follows.

  • Full time
  • Part time
  • Casual
  • Contractor (New)
  • Intern (New)
  • Seasonal (New)
  • Weekend (New)

Overall, this enhancement will not impact your configuration. Existing search methods returning all three of the original employee types, now include all seven employee types. If you have search methods with employee type restrictions (only returning part time employees for example), remain the same and only return the employee type(s) initially set up.

What Changes Will I See

There are two places that you will likely notice the change. The first is in the Organization Settings. You can set the Maximum Hours Weekly and Hours Before Overtime Weekly for each of the employee types.

You will also notice an extended drop down in the Employee Profile when you choose the Employee Type.

Q&A

Q: Do I have to use all seven employee types?
A: No, you can continue using the number of employee types you need.
Q: Can you remove the extra employee types from my site?
A: In an effort to build consistency within our product, we are exposing all seven types to all customers. There isn't a way to remove them.
Q: Can I alter the names of each employee type?
A: Our support team can rename the employee types. Please send an email to support@shiftboard.com with your request and provide the type(s) you wish to rename: Contractor = Temp, Intern = Student.
Q: How can I include one or more of the new employee types into restricted search methods?
A: Our support team can add new employee types to existing search methods currently restricted to one or more employee types. Please send an email to support@shiftboard.com with your request and provide which employee types you want to add to the specific search method.
Q: What if I want to discuss this further to understand my setup?
A: Our support team can provide high level details on your current search methods and how they are set up. If you wish to explore additional configuration outside of renaming employee types or adding employee types to existing search methods, an additional cost for discovery, configuration, testing, and implementation will be provided in a configuration request.
